· Thanks for the pictures. I really enjoyed looking at them - Rick Schiesz

· What great photos Shawn. I remember "Sandy" when I first started racing in 1974. I think he was district rep at the time. It was the ABLA back then. CW was my first club. I would like to see some club photos from the early 70's. I have a few that I took at races on the old Hydes Course. John Cox and I had a lengthy discussion about those days during a training ride last weekend. I guess you know your getting old when you start talking about the good old days!  I'm still holding the $5.00 preme that you won at one of my races. - Tim Lung

· Great to see those photos of some of my favorite riders and people. I raced against Art and Jimmy Lauf (from Hydes, MD) often and rode with Jimmy at the National Championships in San Diego which he won in 1949. I was a junior then and since Jimmy was more  or less alone, I supported him as best I could. He returned the favor in 1952 by coaching me at the Eastern States Track Championships in New Brunswick NJ and helped me win with the right strategy. I have pictures of me crossing the line with Jimmy in his Coast Guard uniform on the sidelines.  I also raced against Jimmy at Delhi Ontario in a six day there. He gave Francois Mertens and I a ride back to Harrisburg from where we took a train back to NY.  Art was a great rider, a very nice person and one of my heroes.  Clyde Nitz, I remember, was the MD state rep and the chief sponsor of the BAR race held at Patterson Park which my brother-in-law, Leon Volterre won in 50. I have a great picture of Clyde, Leon, Frank Small (ABL Pres)  and a monster trophy after the race.  The next year, Francois Mertens won the same race and again I have a great shot of Clyde and Francois with another monster trophy. I don't think I ever met George Sandruck although I may have raced against him if he was active from 1949 - 53. Thank you for publishing those photos as they brought back a lot of wonderful memories. - Andy Werth

· Very cool--thanks for making them available to check out. We've lost so very much information in NCVC over the past few

years. It's good to see that someone is keeping on top of it at CW. - Bill Luecke

· I just looked at these photos and just wanted to say that is a great display of the history of cycling in the region.  I enjoyed them very much and would love to see more.  I just wish our club had that much history! Thanks. - Tim McDonald, Conte's/Richbrau, Richmond, VA

· I don’ t know any thing about these folks, I’m from NJ but I enjoyed these  photos very much.  Thanks for sharing. – Howard

· Shawn, Great photos, thanks.. Doing any riding? - Tom Meyer

· Shawn - great photos - thanks to the family for making them available, and to you putting them on the web... Cheers, Lew Strader.

· Totally cool, Shawn!  Thanks for sharing. - Evelyn Egizi

· I appreciate the pictures, of racing and people I had heard about but never saw.  Especially Clifton Park.  It was neat to see Clyde Nitz, who I had met several times.  He was also into car racing, living across the road from Dorsey Speedway, with his print shop in the basement of the house.  And his son Chris in addition to being the MD Jr cycling champ was into cars, including some fast Corvairs then a Porsche Speedster.  Chris and I lived near each other and had a great time chasing each other to work.  And Chris helped me get my  first ever 10 speed, a Peugeot PX10 sold by a guy who worked in the Social Security  Adm. print shop with

Chris. Thanks for the photos. - Don Riggs
